His Dick Caught in His Zipper

I have been lucky to have two great spiritual advisors/elders in my life. One passed almost a decade ago and he used to say: “Dogs are our direct connection to Spirit.”

On Wednesday I spoke with my other Spiritual Elder, partly just to check in and see how he was faring, but mostly to see if he could talk me in from the ledge. He delivered in that elder wisdom way by saying: “The sun will come up tomorrow. I’m not going to lose any sleep over this.” Then added: “He will get his dick caught in his zipper and then we’ll see what happens.”

After I hung up, I thought: “Yeah, he will get his dick caught in his zipper. And then a parade of Republican Senators will stand at microphones and talk about it was the ‘Greatest dick caught in a zipper in the history of the country. No one can get their dick caught in their zipper better than he can.’ And then MAGAts will start chanting ZIP-PER-DICK! ZIP-PER-DICK! And probably carry signs that say ZIPPER DICK, and probably even design a pair of pants that has a dick caught in a zipper…something along the lines of the “Real Men Wear Diapers” bullshit of the summer.

So, I turn to the dogs as they are our direct connection to Spirit. Dogs are always 100% in the moment, in constant meditation. They don’t react to everyday stresses or news cycles. When I look in their eyes, I truly do see the entire Universe unfolding. They just want some petting, some attention, a butt or belly rub…maybe a treat. But they teach us that Spirit is always in charge.

My neuroses, my panics and fears come from ego. In Alcoholics Anonymous they tell us EGO is “Easing God Out” or “Edging God Out.” In the Big Book, it says: “For we are now on a different basis; the basis of trusting and relying upon God. We trust infinite God rather than our finite selves.” This happens in a discussion surrounding “fear.”

Here we are, faced with what will be an onslaught of “religious” people telling us how to live our lives. They have taken their personal belief in a religion and formed it into something they call Project 2025. They call themselves “Christians,” but they are not. They are actually the people that Jesus would have shunned.

When You Pray, Don’t Be a Fucking Neo-Nazi

We don’t want them in our government, we don’t want them in our bedrooms, we don’t want them 100 yards from our homes. The Christian Nationalists are some sick fucks. They are a conspiracy -driven group of lunatics. They are white supremacists, they are fascists, and they want to remake the United States in their image.

They voted for an adjudicated rapist. A dude who stood on a stage for 39 minutes swaying back and forth to his Spotify list, a person who talked about the size of another man’s penis, a person who performed fellatio on a microphone stand, a person who wants to hold tribunals for his ‘enemies within.’ A person who calls people childish names like he is in middle school. This is their God. This is their fascist leader. Someone so obviously emotionally crippled and in need of genuine love. He is a black hole that sucks the life out of everything he gets near. A vile, vulgar excuse of a human being.

I would NOT let him dog sit for me. Never trust a man that does not like dogs.

It Can Happen Here

Back in the Spring of 2024, Charlie Sykes wrote a piece where he featured his pooches and where he does a phenomenal presentation of both Neil Postman and a comparison to George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. Here is a snippet that really defines this moment in America, a moment where an entire population went to a voting booth not knowing who was actually on the ballot!

“What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy.”

A trivial culture indeed. Somewhere in the TikTok and IG algorithms was lost the name “Harris.” People got into the voting booth, and they saw Coke (T***p) and Kirkland Soda (Harris) and they said, “Well, gee. I have heard of Coke. Not sure what this Kirkland Soda is.” And they voted for Coca-Cola. Because, well, Americans are really fucking stupid.

For years, the experts on fascism kept telling us that the seeds were being sown. That the demagogue the founders feared had arrived and raised his ugly orange head. America has had its little soirees before. Father Coughlin, William Dudley Pelley, Ezra Pound, Charles Lindbergh, Joseph McCarthy. None of these fascist demagogues ever had an entire party line up behind them in support of their fascist activities.

Heck, even Barry Goldwater had the common sense to tell the John Birchers to go fuck themselves. But they never left. They reconstituted as MAGA.

So, for decades Americans felt safe in democracy. It Can’t Happen Here has been the mantra since the USA defeated fascism in Europe in WWII. Now, with an organized effort by autocrats across the globe, fascism HAS come to America and, as predicted is wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.

Listen to Anne Applebaum, she has lived this. The entire GOP has now aligned itself completely with the type of person Alexander Hamilton told us in 1787 could/would destroy the child that they were birthing. The Christofascists are so hung up on abortion. And here they are, actively destroying a 248 year old democracy…In His Name, of course.

ACT.TV is a good place to start. Indivisible is alive and well. As time goes on, I will make every effort to provide resources for fighting against fascism and restoring small D democracy.

The LAST thing we can do now is lay down. We cannot forget it. Yes, we sleepwalked into Autocracy, that doesn’t mean we stay here.
