It Has Come: American Fascism & the Reckoning
Roughly 23% of the adult population in the United States suffers from untreated mental illness. One in twenty are serious mental disorders.
That is roughly 80 million people who are walking around ‘broken’ and not having done any work around their brokenness. Sure, they go to work, take the kids to their soccer match or little league games, but they carry their wounds with them everywhere they go. The back of the SUV is barely big enough to carry all that baggage.
Most of the wounding was done via the “Dynamic Duo,” e.g., mom and dad…and another big chunk comes from schools, siblings and religious institutions. The Church instills shame into each and every person it touches. You are born with “Original Sin,” and the only way out of that brokenness is a Savior. And for a price, the Church will help heal that for you. Praise Him.
For the past decade, Americans have watched a “Religious Right” rally around an amoral Savior. A man so corrupt and so far removed from Grace and yet, they have become his “flock.” They buy his shitty, Chinese made merch, wear his colors, spend lavishly on the gaudy clothing and ‘pray to their God.’ They hold prayer services and speak in tongues for their Lord and God Savior.

This might be the time to wake up and realize that religion and fascism are bedfellows, they go hand in hand. Every movement of fascism in the 20th century in Europe and Russia have been fueled by ecstatic religious fervor and conspiracy. The Catholic Church helped to fuel the Nazis and Mussolini.
The other hand-in-glove reality for “Christians” that serve these false gods is the racism and xenophobia. Hitler was a choirboy in the Catholic Church. He obviously had some “wounds.” And if you read anything from Mary Trump, her uncle is seriously emotionally crippled.
America in 2024 is now in the fervor of “Christian Nationalists.” I have written about this many times before. In this piece, I said: “As I have been harping on over the past month, the dangerous Project 2025 is manufactured and led by the Christian Nationalists. These freaks encompass the far-right Catholic sect known as Opus Dei. Combine this with the NAR, the New Apostolic Reformation and the Seven Mountains Mandate and you can see how fucked up Project 2025 is.”
When a normal person sees T***p supporters proudly displaying Nazi flags, they rightly think, “Well, that’s not good.” Nothing about Nazis is “good,” is it? Unless, of course, you believe that you are a vessel of God that is designated as a protector of “America’s Bloodline,” whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean.
The obsession with birth rates and the need to control women and women’s bodies is a tale as old as time. Ruth Ben-Ghiat detailed this in a piece in September: The Fascist Roots of the Far Right's Obsession with Childlessness and Population Management.
When the oligarchs like Elon Musk and the parade of “Christian Nationalist” preachers start hemming and hawing about birth rates and “Trad wives,” you have the ingredients for fascism. Again, all under the guise of ‘religion.’
First They Came: Project 2025
In the coming year, according to Anne Applebaum and Timothy Snyder, we are going to begin to see who the “firsts” are. Will it be the concentration camps filled with brown people? Will it be the takeover of the media and state-controlled information? Will it be the corner Yoga studio? Will it be state border checkpoints where women are subjected to pregnancy tests?
And then the real test for Americans will be, who will speak for you? One thing is certain after November 5, 2024, this is NOT a dream.
