The Shift: Those Passions Are the Same
Vanity, Pride, Avarice, Ambition
“To believe all men honest is folly. To believe none is something worse.” --John Adams
To know that the founders of America were so informed regarding the fragility of the country they were founding and yet failed to put in place any legal framework or bulwarks against corruption and avarice is astounding. Considering that Thomas Jefferson was an avid reader of authors on civil disobedience such as Cicero, Thomas Aquinas and John Locke, it is curious that these men did not build into the system of government protections against raw ambition.
Now that the oligarchs are performing an out-in-the-open, in-your-face takeover of the country, the plebeians are left with the only tools we have ever had, civil disobedience and dissent. The only tools at our defense are passive resistance and economic resistance.
The takeover of the country by crazy TechBro TESCREALists and far-right Christian Nationalists promises hardship and violence for anyone who does not conform to their worldview. Everyday Americans (plebs) need to resist any calls to aggression and/or violence to fight back. We must follow in the footsteps of a Cicero or Aquinas and resist with our feet and our wallets.
We need a long-term view of the situation ahead. The oligarchs live their lives by ‘quarters.’ All reality is dictated by the ‘quarterly report.’ If a company is spinning its wheels, the CEO can use funds to artificially boost the stock price with ‘buybacks’ that diminish the supply of the company stock and push the price higher.
With the top 10% owning 87% of the market, it is, and always has been, a huge casino where they play Pachinko with people’s retirement income. It means nothing to them if they crash the market, their money is sitting in the Seychelles or Panama and, if the market collapses, they get to come in buy up all the distressed assets at bargain basement prices…which only furthers their power and avarice.
If even a small amount of Project 2025’s wet dream becomes a reality next year, the market will start to crack. The Christian Nationalists may ideologically believe what they want is right, but from a global economic standpoint it is a disaster.
The other big issue facing most democracies is the levels of debt. The U.S. currently holds over $36 trilllion in debt and the interest payments alone are over $1 trillion per year on the principle.
Debt, in and of itself, is not terrible. If there is cash flow (GDP), the level of debt can sustain itself. The U.S. is now trending above the highest levels (Debt to GDP) reached during WWII. Countries like Japan are running a ratio well above 200% currently. This is all sustainable if the “Quarterly Earnings” reports look good. If there is a sudden change in those numbers, a country is left with two options. One is to print more money to cover the losses (inflationary). Two is to implement extreme austerity measures which punish the plebs. Both scenarios force the bottom 99% to suffer.
We have some truly dishonest, unintelligent and privileged people taking over with unlimited amounts of cash from Opus Dei, the Heritage Foundation, the Council for National Policy and Project 2025. “To believe all men honest is folly.”
The American people chose this. If the shakeup they crave turns out to make their lives even more miserable, will they be willing to join the passive resistance movement in civil disobedience?

If you have not seen Wayne Dyer’s “The Shift,” I encourage you to make time before the New Year and watch it to prepare yourself for Project 2025.
