There can be no schism more hypocritical right now that the takeover the U.S. Government by far-right Talibangelicals who say they do not believe in the separation of church and state and yet somehow want to maintain that there is a separation of church and state.
You have to live in the upside-down world of Christofascist thinking to wrap your head around it.
The man to pay attention to right now is Russell Vought. Vought is the prime architect of Project 2025 and is supposed to reclaim his spot as the head of OMB as the Heritage Foundation begins their implementation of the radical Project 2025 assault on the country.

Vought is a slimeball and, of course, a Christian Nationalist. In other words, a whack job.

Like the rest of these scummy Talibangelicals, Vought wants the government to be run by “Christian Ideology,” e.g., billionaires, but wants to keep the churches from being taxed. Between Salem Broadcasting, The Vott Network, Sinclair, RSBN and rest of the right-wing ecosystem, preaching from the pulpit is a 24/7 operation. And yet the churches get away with paying ZERO in taxes while they influence politics from the pulpits and the airwaves.
Their Goal is to Take Over the United States

Estimates range from $75/$85 billion annually if we charge the churches taxes. If they are going to act as political PACs, then they need to pay the price of admission.

It is near impossible to fathom that someone like Barry Goldwater, a man who stood up to the Birchers and authored The Conscience of a Conservative, and who fought against the religious right taking over the party, could now be considered a pariah in the world of Project 2025.
